Relationship & Marriage Coaching

For the Marriage You Have — and the One You Still Want

I help people who are ready to walk out of their marriage turn things around and fall in love again.

You may love your spouse and still feel exhausted by your marriage.

Perhaps you keep having the same arguments without resolving anything. You feel lonely, misunderstood or resentful. You may have tried explaining what you need repeatedly, but nothing seems to change. Part of you wants to save the relationship, while another part wonders whether it is finally time to walk away.

Before making one of the biggest decisions of your life, there may be another place to begin: with you.

What If the Change Begins With You?

It is natural to focus on what your spouse needs to change. You may be able to clearly identify everything they are doing — or not doing — that is hurting the relationship.

But lasting change often begins when you step back and look at the relationship from a different perspective:

  • What do you genuinely want from your marriage?
  • Are you showing up in the ways you want your partner to show up?
  • Are you communicating directly or expecting your spouse to know what you need?
  • Where have you been rescuing, controlling, withdrawing or keeping the peace?
  • What feelings have you suppressed?
  • Where has anger or resentment built up?
  • In what ways have you abandoned your own needs, values or voice?
  • What is your part in the patterns that keep repeating?

This work is not about blaming yourself for everything that has happened. It is about recognizing where you still have choices and reclaiming your ability to create change.

You cannot control your spouse — but you can change how you understand yourself, communicate your needs, establish boundaries and respond to the challenges in your marriage.

You Don't Have to Wait for Your Spouse to Be Ready

Relationship coaching can begin with one person.

Your spouse does not have to attend for you to start understanding the dynamics in your marriage and changing the patterns that are no longer working. When one person begins responding differently, it can shift the entire relationship.

Together, we can explore what you need, what you are contributing to the current dynamic and what a healthy relationship would actually look and feel like to you.

The goal is not to pressure you to stay married at any cost. The goal is to help you know that you have approached this decision with honesty, intention and clarity.

Whether you ultimately rebuild your marriage or decide that leaving is the healthiest choice, you can move forward knowing that you did the deeper work — and that your decision did not come solely from anger, panic, resentment or emotional exhaustion.

What We May Work On

Relationship and marriage coaching is personalized to you, but our work may include:

  • Identifying the relationship patterns that keep repeating
  • Understanding what is underneath anger, resentment or emotional withdrawal
  • Recognizing suppressed emotions and reconnecting with what you feel
  • Communicating needs without attacking, blaming or shutting down
  • Learning the difference between helping and rescuing
  • Identifying passive-aggressive behaviors and indirect communication
  • Looking honestly at your own choices and behavior
  • Establishing healthy boundaries
  • Recognizing self-abandonment and people-pleasing
  • Exploring beliefs formed through past relationships or childhood experiences
  • Rebuilding emotional and physical connection
  • Clarifying what you need from a partner
  • Examining whether you embody the qualities you want from your partner
  • Moving toward forgiveness without dismissing or excusing harmful behavior
  • Making relationship decisions from confidence, clarity and groundedness

This is not about deciding who is right and who is wrong. It is about understanding what is happening beneath the conflict and learning how to create something different.

SYMBIS Relationship Assessment

Saving Your Marriage Before It Starts

I also offer the SYMBIS Assessment — Saving Your Marriage Before It Starts.

Despite its name, SYMBIS is not only for engaged or newly married couples. It can also provide valuable insight for couples who have been married for years and want to better understand their relationship.

The personalized assessment gives us a structured way to explore areas such as communication, conflict and conflict resolution, individual personalities, relationship dynamics, expectations, finances, intimacy, family backgrounds, stress and spiritual beliefs and values.

After completing the assessment, we review your results together and identify your relationship's strengths, potential growth areas and practical next steps.

SYMBIS can be helpful for couples preparing for marriage, couples wanting to strengthen an existing marriage and couples trying to understand why they feel disconnected or stuck.

Elizabeth Cappelletti, MA, LMFT — relationship and marriage coach

My Approach to Relationship Coaching

I am Elizabeth Cappelletti, MA, LMFT, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and transformational coach with more than 20 years of clinical experience.

My approach goes beyond communication tips alone. Relationship patterns are not only held in your thoughts — they are often connected to past experiences, protective behaviors, emotional wounds and responses within the body and nervous system.

Our work may incorporate psychology, somatic awareness, nervous system regulation, mindfulness, breathwork and practical relationship strategies. We will explore not only what is happening between you and your spouse but also what happens within you when you feel rejected, criticized, unseen, controlled or afraid.

This helps you pause before automatically reacting and begin responding from greater awareness, confidence and choice.

Faith-integrated relationship coaching is also available for clients who want Christian beliefs, prayer and spiritual values included in their work.
